Module 1 Discussion Board Assignment: Introducing Yourself and Predicting Your Success
- Due Sep 8, 2024 by 11:59pm
- Points 20
- Submitting a discussion post
- Available Aug 26, 2024 at 12am - Sep 8, 2024 at 11:59pm
This is a three-part discussion post. Remember that discussion posts are worth 20 points each, and as a group, they are the most significant portion of your overall grade. You get to drop two of your 15 assigned discussions.
Please review the syllabus for the discussion post grading rubric.
Lastly, you are expected to respond thoroughly to this assignment (usually 250 words or more) and put considerable thought into your reply to two of your classmates' posts. A rule of thumb here is to post at least a 2-3 sentence reply of roughly 25-50 words.

Please watch my introduction video from Module 0 and then introduce yourself by detailing the following:
- Your name and where you are from
- Tell us a little about your academic journey thus far and why you are enrolled in this class.
- What are your interests and hobbies outside of school? Please let us know anything else that may be of interest within the context of this class.
- After watching my introduction video, please share at least one thing you have in common with me, your instructor.
Part 2
Watch the Ted Talk, "GRIT: The Power of Passion and Perseverance," then answer the following questions:
- What is your reaction to the video? Explain your reaction.
- Do you agree or disagree with what is presented in the video and why? Support your argument with any relevant evidence.
- Do you think we can strengthen and grow our own "grittiness"? If so, how? If not, why?
- Do you think failure has any part in success? Explain.
- Give an example of your GRIT.
(If you're not comfortable sharing your replies with the class, you may submit your answers as a private message but still reply to others)
Part 3
Thoughtfully reply to two of your classmates' posts using the parameters listed at the beginning of this assignment.
FYI, other people's post are hidden until you post your initial response. To post your response, simply click the reply button below and paste your post. I recommend pre-writing your post on a word doc or Google doc before you post, to make sure it meets the standard you are aiming for.
