Introduction

Unit/Module 6 provides a conceptual framework for understanding both domestic and foreign policy.  It answers some fundamental questions, e.g., who sets policy, how is it implemented, and how effective is it?

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Identify the key political arenas for setting public policy
  • Analyze the respective roles of congress and president in setting domestic and foreign policy
  • Describe the major social safety net programs, along with their cost and effectiveness

You will Demonstrate Mastery of Unit 6 by being able to:

  • Analyze the impact of partisan politics on domestic and foreign policy-making decisions
  • Compare and contrast the policy-making differences between domestic and foreign policy.
  • Explain both fiscal and monetary policy
