This course is organized by modules (on the left hand navigation bar)--all readings, quizzes, assignments, essays, etc. are found in these modules, along with a special writing assignment module. Please explore!

YOUR GOOD CITIZENSHIP CHECKLIST

What's important to me? Obviously, your academic achievement. But it goes beyond that; I see myself as having a mission to help you create better lives for yourselves through good citizenship. That includes keeping abreast of current events, understanding the issues, discussing them with friends and family, and voting intelligently. Tolerance and compromise are hallmarks of an enlightened democratic electorate; sometimes we must tolerate others and make compromises for the survival of our democratic republic.

  • Register to Vote   Taking a political science course without registering to vote is like taking a painting class and showing up without a paintbrush. California makes voter registration incredibly easy. If you are qualified to vote (US citizen 18 years old) do it now! California voter registration Links to an external site.
  • Follow the News    Also, in addition to the textbooks, you are required to keep abreast of current events and write (briefly) about politics or government, once a week, as well as commenting on two other students' posts.  See "Discussions" on the side navigation bar.
