About Professor Fuchs
Hi everyone. Professor Fuchs here. Just want to give you a better idea of who I am.
I'm originally from the Bronx with family in real estate and show business.
My daughter and her family live in Seattle, WA, and I have close relatives in Bristol, England and New York.
After a rocky educational start (I was left back in seventh grade and dropped out after ninth grade), I earned a GED and got down to business.
I hold degrees in political science and philosophy from New York UniversityLinks to an external site. and a law degree from Boston University School of LawLinks to an external site.. I've also authored two books 1Links to an external site., 2Links to an external site. and four screenplays as part of the UC Riverside MFA program, Links to an external site.including The Nutcracker:Links to an external site. Mouse Queen's Revenge. My academic interest is mostly in American constitutional law and history, as well as comparative government.
During the 1980s, I was a Wall StreetLinks to an external site. investment banker, then I switched gears to practice law (1990-1995). From 1995 to 2015, I was a serial entrepreneur, which included the creation of one of the largest law-related websitesLinks to an external site.. All along the way, I stayed involved in politics, from campaign organizer to serving on an election finance committee.
I moved to Palm Desert in 2006 and immediately volunteered in the education department of the Living DesertLinks to an external site., where I currently chair the scholarship committee. I'm also an interpretive guide and hike leader at Friends of the Desert MountainsLinks to an external site..
I've been at COD for nine years, regularly teaching this course and business law.
