Welcome to EMT 080-6180 Emergency Medical Responder
Welcome to online learning and thank you for enrolling into EMT 080-6182 Fall 2020 semester Emergency Medical Responder online course at College of the Desert. The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course prepares the EMR student to provide emergency prehospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMR's, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, and special considerations for working in the prehospital setting. This course meets or exceeds all of the requirements as specified in the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 9, for Advanced First Aid Standards for Public Safety Personnel and the National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Medical Responders.
Tips for Online Success
There are 3 key steps to success in online learning:
STEP 1: Before the Class Begins – Be sure to review the readiness tips, login and learn how to use Canvas, and access your campus student email.
STEP 2: The First Week of Class – Make sure that you login on the first day of class, become oriented to the course, and read the entire syllabus.
STEP 3: During the Semester – Be sure to login daily, interact in discussion board forums as required, keep a schedule and planner, and submit assignments or assessments on time.
How to Access the Course

Once you enter the Module, you can begin by clicking on the first item at the top, and then upon completion, you can click-on the next tab located on the bottom of each page within the Module.
