Discuss the role of an emergency medical responder in caring for a patient experiencing childbirth.

Explain the signs and symptoms that are present when full labor and delivery begin and describe the three stages of labor.
Describe how to determine whether there is time to transport a woman to a hospital for delivery.
Explain preparation for imminent delivery of a newborn in the field or ambulance.
Discuss the standard precautions and equipment needed for emergency childbirth.
Explain how to assist with delivery of a newborn and delivery of the placenta.
Discuss how to assess and stimulate the newborn to cry, and when and how to provide resuscitation of the newborn.
