Fire Sprinklers have proven to be 97% effective in controlling fires. Often times, they control the fire before it gets the chance to grow and produce toxic smoke. It is almost like having a firefighter stationed inside your home, ready to respond 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The most recent California Fire Code adoption cycle now requires all newly built single-family homes built must have a residential fire sprinkler system installed.
If fire sprinkler systems are so effective in controlling and or extinguishing a building fire, is there really a need for the fire department to exist? Are we putting ourselves out of business by requiring fire sprinkler systems? Students must explore and discuss whether or not there is going to be a need for firefighters in the future. Take into consideration of where the fire service started and where the fire service is today when developing your discussion.
Students must post a minimum of 250 words for this posting.
You must reply to at least two of your classmates postings. A minimum of five sentences are required per reply. Students will have 24 hours after the discussion due date to post peer reviews.
