Research Paper Instructions
For this research assignment you will need to:
- Find and read an article on PsychologyToday.com
- The article should be related to a topic within the field of psychology that interests you.
- You will need to summarize the article
- Then you will need to analyze it from one of the five psychological perspectives
- Biological, cognitive, behavioral, psychoanalytic, or humanistic.
- In your analysis you should:
- Identify the key figures, concepts and theories behind your chosen perspective
- Explain how the article relates to the psychological perspective you have chosen.
- Provide a critical evaluation of the article in which you discuss its strengths and limitations
- What implications does your article have for psychology as a field?
Grading Rubric:
- Article Summary (30 points): The summary should clearly and accurately convey the main ideas presented in the article, including the topic, purpose, and key points.
- Psychological Perspective Analysis (50 points): The analysis should be well-supported and clearly demonstrate the student's understanding of the chosen psychological perspective. The student should explain how the article relates to the chosen perspective.
- Critical Evaluation (50 points): The evaluation should be thoughtful and demonstrate the student's ability to think critically about the article. The student should identify the strengths and limitations of the article and discuss its implications for psychology as a field.
- Writing Mechanics (20 points): The writing should be clear, concise, and free of grammatical errors. The student should use proper APA style for in-text citations and references.
- Creativity and Originality (20 points): The paper should demonstrate the student's creativity and originality in analyzing and evaluating the article. No plagiarism
- Adherence to Guidelines (30 points): The paper should adhere to the guidelines provided in the prompt, including the length requirement (1000 words), the use of PsychologyToday.com as the source, and the choice of one of the five psychological perspectives for analysis.
Plagiarism will result in a grade of 0 on the paper and possible further disciplinary actions by the college.
