4: On Time, Every Time

Think of yourself as an employer whose employees are calling in with the following excuses for missing a full day of work. They have given no prior notice, so it will put pressure on you and the employees who did come in to work today. You decide that you must do something to put a stop to high absenteeism by giving a warning of dismissal to any employee who calls in with poor excuses for taking the day off.

Read each of the employee reasons for being absent from work and decide whether their reason is (a) an acceptable reason for not coming in to work that day; (b) an acceptable reason, but only if it isn't done very often; of (c) an unacceptable reason: the worker should have come in today.
