Expectations Regarding Correspondence

Communication Policy:

Students should message me via the CANVAS INBOX, ONLY. The reason for this is so that we can both benefit from a clear, digital trail of information. Rather than have to search both Canvas and various email inboxes, simply do everything via Canvas.

Check The Canvas Inbox Daily:

The school’s advisory notice regarding email applies Links to an external site. to Canvas communication. That is, not checking Canvas announcements and messages does not absolve you from any responsibility. It is highly advised that you check this course on Canvas at least once a day to see if there are any reminders or emergency notices. You can receive notifications so that you receive email messages when new Announcements are made by going to Canvas Student Guides ("How do I set my Notification Preferences Links to an external site.?"). You may also want/need to forward your school emails to your personal account so you do not miss any Canvas email notifications and/or institutional emails that are critical to your success.

If you are able, I recommend you download the Canvas application to your phone. Then, you will receive announcements directly to your phone.

Turnaround Time (Messages):

I will respond to other, non-grade-related Canvas messages but encourage you to come to office hours and/or set video appointment on zoom with me for help on assignments, understanding content, or something else. If you do send a Canvas message that requires a private response I will respond to messages within 48 hours during the week. If you post to the Q&A Forum, I will often respond sooner than if you send me a private message so I encourage you to post there for a quick response to a general question. If you do message me a general question, I may request that you post your question to the board so I can answer it publicly, that way everyone can benefit from the answer, just like in a face-to-face class. Developing a solid list of questions and answers will be a good resource for students who want a quick answer to a common question.

Guidelines For Q&A Forum:

Review posted questions and answers to avoid repetition. Do NOT ask questions about what answer other students put on their quizzes. Do NOT share answers/where to find answers in the text for the quizzes. DOING SO WILL BE CONSIDERED CHEATING AND YOU WILL RECEIVE A '0' FOR THE QUIZ. Questions regarding specific questions/question wording on the quiz(zes) should be directed to me first and if acceptable, I will post them to the boards on your behalf. Do NOT post any personal information about yourself or others (student id #, address, course schedule, etc.). Do NOT post grade inquiries, grades received on this board. Any grade/individual concerns should be discussed in private with the Professor.
