Welcome to our online Elementary Algebra class! 

This is asynchronous online class. There is no required meeting.

 

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course is an introduction to the real number system and to the use of variable expressions and equations in problem solving. Topics include properties of the real numbers, square roots, arithmetic of variable expressions including polynomials and algebraic fractions, solving linear equations and inequalities in one variable, factoring, and an introduction to the Cartesian coordinate system and the equations and graphs of linear equations in two variables. Also, the proper use of math notation is emphasized along with an introduction to Pythagorean Theorem and basic geometric formulas, some dimensional analysis with modeling applications is included.

You will have all the assignments, instructional videos, and instructional materials in Canvas. There is no need to leave Canvas for other sites, other than when you want to see the ebook in Openstax - Elementary Algebra 2e which is freely available as a pdf and as a website

Please confirm your registration and commitment to this course by posting in the Discussion Forum "Introduce yourself” and complete the Quiz "Syllabus check" no later than Wednesday, Feb 2nd . If you fail to do this, you will be dropped as "no-show".

You should check in no later than Sunday, Jan 30 11:59 PM PST. You will find more detailed information about the course itself in the SYLLABUS link on the main menu.
