Learning Objectives

This week students will:

  1. Recognize and duplicate the alphabet handshapes used in ASL.   
  2. Demonstrate expressive skills by fingerspelling
  3. Prepare and submit fingerspelling assignment
  4. Complete a receptive skills quiz
  5. Know how to sign LETTER (of the alphabet)

Introduction

In Week 1, you will learn the alphabet handshapes in ASL and use these handshapes to demonstrate your fingerspelling skills.  You will also read, the Signing Naturally Workbook, about ASL History, Deaf Culture, and Myths about ASL.

By the end of the week, you will demonstrate fingerspelling skills through a video submission.  Receptive skills and written knowledge of the Deaf World will be assessed by submission of a quiz.
