About Us

Disabled Students Programs and Services at College of the Desert is committed to providing students with disabilities equal access to a community college education. Through the utilization of specialized instructional programs and disability related services, DSPS encourages and fosters independence and assists students in attaining their educational and vocational goals.

DSPS currently serves approximately 1,300 students each year with disabilities at College of the Desert, assisting them to achieve their educational goals by providing the services and programs needed to participate in the college classroom.

Students requiring accommodations for a verified disability need to contact the Disabled Students Programs & Services (DSPS) Office. DSPS will determine your eligibility for and authorize the use of accommodations and services based on the functional limitations of your verified disability. If you are approved for accommodations and/or services the DSPS Office will give you a Faculty Notification Form. This form is required in order to receive classroom accommodations or services and must be shared with the instructor. DSPS can be contacted by phone at (760) 773-2534 and TDD (for deaf and hearing impaired) at (760) 773-2598 to schedule an appointment to meet with a DSPS counselor.
