Dan Mayo Increasing scientific literacy and critical thinking to address the equity gap This talk will provide strategies for instructors to improve students critical thinking and scientific literacy in STEM classes. Cherri Lai Dean Steckman Natalie Holland Supporting Student Parents COVID has presented many barriers and challenges to all students, but when talking about parenting students, it is especially difficult as they are managing their children being at home and doing school from home as well.
Based on current research 1 in 5 undergraduates are student parents, but their presence are often not recognized on campus. Using current research on student parents, this workshop highlights effective practices and resources available to student parents at College of the Desert.
Together, we can foster a student-parent affirming culture at COD.		 3:00-3:50 pm
