The PDC is comprised of members from all groups, and its goal is to communicate and provide trainings to the campus community. Jin An-Dunning Open Educational Resources: Free the Textbook 1 out of 4 California Community College students have dropped out of 1 or more classes due to textbook costs. The high and rising cost of textbooks is not just alarming - it is an equity issue that disproportionately affects not just our most disadvantaged students, but our disadvantaged students of color. In this session we will discuss the impact OERs can have on student success, address articulation questions, and how to find open educational resources through COD Library's new OER guide. 12:00-12:50 pm

Corbyn Voyu Sarah Fry Curriculum Mapping in eLumen Dear Department Chairs, Ever wonder where different learning outcomes are addressed within a program? Wonder if there are any gaps in the learning or in outcomes being addressed? Join us in this active workshop geared towards Department Chairs or Discipline Coordinators and will focus on the "how-to" map in eLumen. Curriculum Mapping is the next stage of outcome work at COD, completed mapping for all departments is due this Spring 2021.

Melissa Flora Jorge Perez Objection! Using Canvas tools to Clarify Objectives and Keep Grades Fair One of the core ethics of teaching is that of being “fair”. This does not mean everyone gets the same grade, but it does mean that no students are significantly helped or hurt by how we run our classes. Canvas offers many features and tools to help achieve the goal of fairness. Topics may include: rubrics, discussions, quizzes, feedback opportunities, navigation links, and announcements. Dr. Oscar Espinoza-Parra White educators as allies and advocates of diversity This session focuses on white allies and educators who engage in social justice, racial justice, diversity, and equity. This session will include conversations from College of the Desert white educators (i.e., faculty, administrators) who engage in diversity and why it matters to white educators. This session aims to reframe the conversation of racial justice is not only a concern for people of color and why it is essential for white allies to partner and collaborate in the difficult and challenging work of equality. This session aims to offer lessons from the white educators in listening, learning, and understanding the world from different lenses while sparking conversations and acts of change with the majority group. 2:00-2:50 pm

Assessment can bring to light equity gaps, gaps in learning, and best practices in our teaching. If you are a new faculty member, or not clear in the purpose and process of assessing SLOs, please join us!

Brian Thompson Creating Dual Enrollment Pathways and Partnerships Creating Dual Enrollment partnerships with our K12 partners through our existing CCAPP agreements can be a difficult task! Come learn everything there is to know about Dual Enrollment including how you can offer your courses in a pathway at the K12 districts, creating a seamless pipeline of students into your programs. Dual Enrollment helps to provide amazing early college access opportunities for students across the entire Coachella Valley and is an excellent way to reduce equity in education gaps through broadening college access and creating a college going culture. At the session, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions about the Dual Enrollment process as well as meet your appointed Dual Enrollment Liaisons for your academic schools. 3:00-3:50 pm
