Welcome (Start Here)

Welcome to Psy-010-3834 Psychological Aspects/Marriage & Family.  I know that we had a rough start with the school's server going down. I am of course understanding of any technical difficulties you may have or have had.  I want to let you know that my class is a safe environment where all students from all backgrounds should have a voice in what this class becomes. I am in partnership with all of you, and I am a strong proponent of equity in education, which means everyone receives the education that they deserve and in a manner that is respectful of their background and identities (gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc.). My dissertation was written on multicultural training/education of psychology students, and social justice is a personal and professional value of mine.  If at any time, I or a student, are doing something that feels disrespectful to you, please come to me to talk about it. I want your honest feedback because I can then grow as a teacher. 

With that being said, I have divided this course into 9 modules that represent 2 weeks of class instruction and class work. Please tap the link below to watch my welcome video and brief class orientation: 

 

The first week of module 0 will be solely devoted to orientation to the class and online learning in general. The one class Zoom lecture will be devoted to going over the class and the course syllabus, and this lecture will be recorded and made available to download in Module 0. There are multiple tasks that you will need to complete:

  • Complete all orientation videos
  • Orientation quiz (can take multiple times)
  • Read all orientation files and documents
  • Record a short greeting video on 3C Media in which you introduce yourself
  • Complete initial student survey in Canvas
    • This survey asks some personal question, and only I will see your responses.
    • The more you tell me about you, the better I can design the class and lessons to meet your needs.
