Genogram
1. Use of consistent rules and symbols that are understandable and readable. Again, it does not matter what you use as long as you are consistent.
2. Family relationships are presented: marriage, divorce, committed relationships, children, etc.… 3. Emotional relationships are depicted: distant, fused, close, conflict, abuse, etc.… 4. You create a key for any unique symbols that you use 5. Any mental health, addiction, suspicion of issues/diagnoses, and/or physical health are present if applicable. 6. Your paper and genogram should match in terms of the above information; use it as a guide as you write.

Reflection & Key Concepts
1. Description of your family of origin through the genogram patterns, and your role in your family and those patterns. Talk about how these were passed on through the generations, and how they affect you in adulthood.
2. Reflection about your family of origin and what you want to change, keep the same, stop doing or start doing in your own family. 3. Application of key concepts and theories from the course demonstrating a deeper understanding of the course material and a deeper understanding of family dynamics. These concepts should be explored in student’s own words and based on how they apply to their family.
