Discussion 9 Instructions (Read First)
Round Robin Breakout Room & Discussion
- All Students will answer these questions independently and you are encouraged to use the textbook and the internet
- What are some ways in which marriages change across time?
- Look at specific areas of the relationship that usually change over time
- Here are some suggestions:
- Communication patterns including conflict
- Feelings of love and commitment
- Marital adjustments and tasks
- Different marital problems at different stages of the marriage
- Focus on two areas and consider newlyweds, middle aged couples, and couples in late adulthood regarding similarities and differences
- The first 10 minutes will be independent work on answering the questions.
- Group then decide the order of sharing in breakout rooms, and someone will be the timer.
- Decide on length of each share but no more than 3 minutes
Discussion questions:
- What did you like about this group activity and what did you not like? Give reasons why for both.
- What similarities did you find with what you talked about and others in the group discussed?
- Did your group focus on the same areas that you had?
- Did they seem to highlight the marital cycle the same way that you did?
- How did your answers differ from some or all the other group members?
- Did you have any unique ideas in your answers?
- Did you have a unique example or concept that you found?
