Round Robin Breakout Room & Discussion

  1. All Students will answer these questions independently and you are encouraged to use the textbook and the internet
  1. What are some ways in which marriages change across time?
    1. Look at specific areas of the relationship that usually change over time
    2. Here are some suggestions:
      1. Communication patterns including conflict
      2. Feelings of love and commitment
      3. Marital adjustments and tasks
      4. Different marital problems at different stages of the marriage
    3. Focus on two areas and consider newlyweds, middle aged couples, and couples in late adulthood regarding similarities and differences
  1. The first 10 minutes will be independent work on answering the questions.
  2. Group then decide the order of sharing in breakout rooms, and someone will be the timer.
    1. Decide on length of each share but no more than 3 minutes

 

Discussion questions:

  1. What did you like about this group activity and what did you not like? Give reasons why for both.
  2. What similarities did you find with what you talked about and others in the group discussed?
    1. Did your group focus on the same areas that you had?
    2. Did they seem to highlight the marital cycle the same way that you did?
  3. How did your answers differ from some or all the other group members?
    1. Did you have any unique ideas in your answers?
    2. Did you have a unique example or concept that you found?
