At the end of a module of learning, it is important to reflect on what we learned, how well we learned it, and how we can put it to use in our writing. This module focused on semicolons used to join independent clauses and to separate series of items.
For this journal, demonstrate your understanding of the colon and semicolon by writing a reminder note to a family member. Correctly use 2 semicolons and 2 colons in this note. There is an example below.
Hi Joey,
This morning was so crazy; I woke up late! I know it's usually my responsibility to do the Friday chores, but I need your help. Please take out the garbage after school; don’t forget to check the fridge for rotten food! After I leave work, I have several errands to do: get gas, go to the bank, and pick up the dry cleaning. It would be awesome if you could take care of the other house chores I generally do on Fridays: clean the bathrooms, take out the trash, and sweep the floors.
Thank you so much for all of your help.
Love,
Mom
